  • Leaf  Student Chef Competition

    As part of the Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program's Shake It Up in School Nutrition initiative, Georgia Department of Education is holding it's first ever Farm to School Student Chef Compeitition.     Attention high school artists! Explore new directions in your artistic skills and enter the Georgia Farm Bureau'a annual art contest! 

    Also attention Middle School writers! The Georgia Farm Bureau invites you to enter the Middle School Essay Contest! The topic is "The Importance of Georgia's Specialty Crops".

  • Leaf  School Nutrition Shakes It Up

    The Georgia Department of Education- School Nutrition Team has launched a state-wide initiative to enhance the flavor of school meals and imporve the perception of Georgia School Nutrition Programs called "Shake It Up." Here is a video about the initiative. Fayette County School Nutrition has been challenged to take the "Shake It Up" Pledge. School Nutrition has applied Fayette County for the Gold Commitment. This commitment requires excellent customer service, requires us to provide health fruits and vegetables, improve food quality, and showcase Georgia Grown food items on the menu. We are very excited for this statewide iniative!

In the Spotlight

  • On Monday, October 24, districts across the state of Georgia were honored with the prestigious Golden Radish Award for their farm to school accomplishments. Fayette County Schools was award the Silver Award this year. The Golden Radish award recognizes schools that are involced in local food procurement to hosting taste tests. A few schools across the district have their own gardens. School Nutrition Director, Kokeeta Wilder, Lead Manager, Ginger McCann, and Robert J. Burch's Garden Coordinator, Sandy Golden, accepted the award on Monday.
