County School Board has scheduled EBoard training at the B
building lab at LaFayette Educational Center on Tuesday, December 11 at 8:30
am.
The Board of Education's primary functions are to
develop and adopt policies by which the schools are administered, to
continually evaluate the effectiveness of these policies and to make
certain that they are being administered as the board intended. The
administration of the educational program and school business is the
responsibility of the superintendent of schools and his staff.
The board of education is
made up of five members elected to serve four year terms. Terms are
staggered.
The chair and vice chair
are elected by the board members each year at the January meeting.
The regular monthly
business meetings of the board are held on the third Monday of each month at
7:00 p.m. at the central office located at 210 Stonewall Avenue,
Fayetteville, Georgia.
Copies of the agenda are
available at each meeting. Official minutes are maintained in the office of
the superintendent.
Work sessions are scheduled as
needed. Dates, locations and times of these
session are posted in the central office lobby.
Special meetings of the
board of education, if needed, are called by the chair or the superintendent
at the request of the board members.
The board welcomes and
encourages interaction with citizens, community organizations, and various
representatives of the media. This allows citizens the opportunity to become
well informed about what is happening throughout the school system.
A citizen who wishes to be placed on the agenda
at the regular business meeting should contact the superintendent or board
chairperson 10 days prior to the meeting. |
