The Board of Education met in regular session on May 19, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education building.

a) Approved agreement with Mauldin & Jenkins audit services for the 2008 audit

e) Approved policies to be deleted
f) Approved bid from Atlanta Fixture and Sales Co. for $264,221 for Tyrone Elementary School kitchen equipment
11) Superintendent’s Report
a) Update on construction program
i) Inman Elementary School- The standing seam metal roof is complete in all sectors, some trim work and the canopy roofing still needs to be completed. The exterior windows are being installed. The main entrance canopy brick has been completed. The classrooms have been painted. The ceiling grid and light fixtures have been installed in the classrooms and the classroom corridors. The gypsum board ceiling in the media center has been installed. The gypsum board ceiling in the cafeteria is being installed. The bus canopy is being installed. The HVAC loop lines have been flushed and the loop piping is being installed to the heat pumps on the mezzanine. The exterior doors are installed. The landscaping is being planted along the front of the school (facing Inman Road).
ii) Rivers Elementary School- The grading sub-contractor is grading the site. The grade for the building pad is very close to being established. The storm drainage piping is being installed in the courtyard area. The detention pond is being constructed.
b) Strategic plan update- will sit on the table for 30 days for review; the board will vote on the plan at the June regular board meeting
c) Budget update was presented by Comptroller Laura Brock
d) Budget workshop/called meeting for 6-2-08, 7 p.m. and 6-23-08, 7 p.m.
